Juliette Lepage Boisdron

“My experience colours my work. I am especially drawn to women and their role in society, and am enthralled by how humans interact with each other and with nature”

Juliette Lepage Boisdron

Juliette Lepage Boisdron is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist.

She was born in Paris in 1971 and has been creating a unique and enchanting universe for over 30 years, integrating painting, drawing and art jewelry.

As a child, Juliette grew up in exotic and culturally diverse places such as North China, U.S.S.R, the Arab Emirates and sub-Saharan Africa. This extremely cosmopolitan childhood has undoubtedly had a creative influence on the artist's work.

Juliette holds a master's degree in Art History from the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. After her studies in Paris, Juliette has continued to travel extensively and has lived in many countries. Her professional career is therefore quite eclectic, however, one constant has always remained in her life : she has always been creating poetic paintings and contemporary jewelry, transcribing what she has learnt from different people and different cultures.

In the 90’s, Juliette lived over a decade in Singapore where she worked as an art gallery director. Then she moved to India and worked as an artistic agent. Back to Paris, she worked for the website of the Fondation Cartier. During the 2000s, Juliette took a break from professional life and focused exclusively on raising her 3 children. Between 2010 and 2014, Juliette lived in Portugal where she has been learning traditional jewelry techniques with the Lisboeta artist Catarina Silva.

Returning to Singapore in 2017 she studied ancient and contemporary Chinese painting techniques with artist Lim Choon Jin at the Lasalle School of the Arts. The artist now lives between Basel, Paris and Lisbon. She is part of DOCK Basel, SGBK section Basel and VISARTE (Newcomer). She has exhibited widely in America, Europe and Asia. She is currently represented by galleries in Basel, in the US, Austin TX, and in Thailand. Her works are part of numerous private collections around the world.

Juliette paints with chinese or india ink and acrylic on rice paper. Her creations speak about love, human relationships, the place of women in society, motherhood, relationships between man and nature. There is no hierarchy for her; humans, animals, plants, they all have the same dignity of existence.

She is especially drawn to women, their role in the world and is enthralled by how humans interact with each other and nature. Sometimes it is beautiful, sometimes painful. Juliette is deeply attached to nature and needs to be surrounded by it. In her work, the viewer will always see expressive, mystical characters that do not follow traditional beauty standards. Her figures may have two heads, are hidden by flowers and mostly look asymmetrical. This reflects life and the imperfections of all of us.

Her message is an integral part of each of her artworks.
