Alex C. is a people and landscape photographer, but also shines with experimental photography. Especially impressive is his ability to capture cityscapes with their architecture, and contrasts.

Born 1972 in Bühl Germany, Alex C. now lives in Switzerland.  The photographer has also lived and worked in England beforehand. He spent several years in Bern as well as in the Lake Geneva region before settling in the Canton of Zug.
With him there is no "one" process. Especially with landscape and cityscape shots, there are pictures that are planned in detail, scouted on the computer with google earth,
a lot of local research, plus precise time and location planning. Sometimes these photographs can be realized on location very quickly, sometimes he has to wait for the right weather, the right light, the right mood and so on. It takes a lot of patience to capture exactly the right moment.
Alex C. enjoys it when photographs are taken spontaneously, where one is, at a given point in time.
That means being in the moment, very present and attune, openly perceiving the surroundings, when you are inspired by a landscape or a motif and then the final picture starts forming in his head.
And then there are also those shots when he returns to the same place over and over again until everything aligns perfectly, or the fascination is simply great enough to create a timestamped evolution of shots.
With his portraits, it's always a combination of planning and spontaneity. The beginning is usually still planned, which creates trust and allows the photographer to get to know his model and each other. Then slowly it turns into a joint creative process. Usually, the unplanned and jointly created images are the ones that you get stuck on as a viewer, they are the more personal ones, with a glimpse into the soul and therefore also those that are rarely made public.
Alex C. is always prepared and ready. His equipment is always checked in detail to make sure everything is organized that might be needed. What not many people know is that he prefers black & white photography, although there are certainly subjects that need and tolerate color to add to the final composition. Quite often, however, with his motives the color distracts from the photo, and you can see in black & white much more soul or purity of the subject.
There are two quotes - both from Andy Warhol - that come up again and again and have a lot of meaning for him: "Art is what you can get away with" and the second: "Everybody
must have a phantasy". He lives this motto and pushes boundaries when he photographs experimentally.
