About

Why

Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery is more than a brick-and-mortar space. It exists to challenge how contemporary art is experienced, collected, and understood, bringing together international and local perspectives in a dialogue that moves across borders.

The gallery is built on the belief that art should not feel distant or exclusive. It should feel personal, relevant, and alive. Its mission is to break down traditional barriers and create a more direct and meaningful connection between artists and those who live with their work.

Unchained.Art Contemporary focuses on artists with a distinct voice, presenting work that invites curiosity, emotion, and conversation. The program includes both emerging and established practices, with an emphasis on authenticity and genuine connection.

This philosophy is reflected in how the gallery operates: transparent, personal, and intentionally accessible. Whether someone is discovering art for the first time or building a collection, the experience is designed to feel open and engaging rather than intimidating.

“A work of art is not complete without the perception of the viewer.”
— Marcel Duchamp

This idea sits at the core of the gallery’s philosophy.

Located in Austin’s historic district, the gallery presents a curated program across painting, sculpture, photography, and technology-driven work. The selection brings together international perspectives and local voices, creating a dialogue that extends beyond geography.

Unchained.Art Contemporary means something different to every artist, every collector, and every visitor. That is precisely the point.

"As an artist, it can often be awkward getting my general philosophy and art perspective across to the general public. My artwork often speaks better than I do and so it can be tough getting final art pieces promoted and into shows.  Christina has removed the stress and strain around self publicity for me. She has worked tirelessly at encouraging and promoting my work. She has organised and secured a number of exhibitions and has shown herself to be extremely affable and professional. She is good natured and approachable and very professional in promoting talent." - M. J. Hale
